The speed increaser gearbox can be designed with standard

Torkdrive Cycloidal gear reducers is that the bearing and the sun gear are an unbalanced mass, and will cause some vibration. In my design, the eccentricity is minimal (around 0.13 mm), and the effect is barely perceptible; but in large-scale applications, it is sometimes necessary to use two bearings and two sun gears, 180° off-phase, to compensate for the problem.

The speed increaser gearbox can be designed with standard, involute tooth profile - but given the large meshing area, and the desire to minimize tooth height (in order to allow the gears to have almost the same diameter), I decided to use a computed circular profile, instead. Tooth height is 0.24 mm, and width is 0.43 mm, allowing the inner gear to have 80 teeth, and the outer gear to have just 81.

Torkdrive cycloidal speed reducer ,If you do the math, the transmission ratio of this mechanism is (Cring - Csun) / Csun. In other words, if Csun is 65 mm (diameter of ~20.5 mm), and Cring is 65.5 mm, the ratio is 130:1. If you used spur gears or a planetary gearbox, it would be difficult to achieve 8:1 or so in the same envelope.

speed increaser gearbox ,The problem, of course, is that if we attach the output shaft directly to the sun gear, the resulting motion will be a composite of two patterns: the slow rotation we are interested in, and the rapid wobble caused by the action of the eccentric cam. And that's where the other clever trick comes into play: create a set of oversized holes in the ring gear, and couple a centrally mounted output carriage to these holes using a set of undersized pins.

Torkdrive Cycloidal gear reducers have a rotating shaft of a motor (center) attached an eccentric cam (orange) that rotates feely inside a ball bearing; that bearing, in turn, is in the center of a sun gear (green) that rolls inside a fixed ring gear (blue). In the leftmost drawing, the cam is facing up, cycloidal speed reducers keeps the sun gear in contact with the top of the ring gear. As the motor shaft beg cins to rotate clockwise, the contact point follows this motion, and the sun gear rolls inside the ring. Because the circumference (C) of the rolling gear is smaller than that of the ring, any point on its surface will effectively slowly rotate counterclockwise.

This will also cause increased wear on the exterior teeth of the cycloidal disk, as well as the interface with the output roller pins due to small relative motion caused by the vibrations. Helical Worm Geared Motors ,A second cycloidal disc installed a half-rotation relative to the first will balance the input shaft and reduce vibration.
